History

History Curriculum Intent Statement

With a wealth of historical legacy right on our doorstep, our history curriculum will ensure our local setting is recognised and celebrated; we’ll enjoy exploring people and places of significance which encourage our children to develop an eagerness to know more and ask questions. We want them to understand that historical cause and consequence has shaped the people they are – their identity, their values and their attitudes. Attributes which inform our everyday decision making. The history curriculum enables our children to build a chronological framework in which to plot local, national and international events of importance. They will know that interpretations of these events are formed through gathering and sorting different sources of evidence raising issues of reliability, validity and accuracy. Through this, the children will know how people and places have changed over time and how the legacy of the past impacts the present and the future.
